Creation of Pages and Posts in WordPress
WordPress is a sophisticated Content Management System (CMS) that allows us to create, edit, and delete content easily. We also have a plethora of plugins at our disposal to add various features to a website. Before proceeding, I'll explain the difference between posts and pages. For example, if you want to write a specific update on the 'basics of 5G,' you would create a Post titled 'Overview of 5G.' The title is entered in the header section and the text in the body section. From your WordPress Dashboard, you can easily manage these entries.
Steps to Create a New Post:
1. Navigate to the WordPress Dashboard.
2. Locate the menu in the left sidebar.
3. Click on 'Posts.'
4. Select 'Add New' near the top of the screen.
5. Enter the title and the main content of your post.
6. To make your article live, click the 'Publish' button in the top right.
7. You can view your work before publishing by clicking the 'Preview' button next to the 'Publish' button.
You may also design your content using page builders like Elementor or Elementor Pro. Imagine you are creating a series of articles on 5G, such as '5G Bandwidth' and '5G Technologies.' You could create a Page called '5G' to serve as a central hub. This page can provide a broad summary and include links to all your specific 5G posts. Visitors often identify a website's purpose by looking at its Pages, which is why page links are usually displayed in the header navigation. To create a page, return to the left sidebar of your Dashboard.
Select 'Pages' from the sidebar menu. Click 'Add New,' enter your title and content, and then click 'Publish' to make the page live.
In short, 'Posts' are for timely updates or specific topics, while 'Pages' are for static, foundational content. Pages are typically added to the header menu so users can easily navigate the site. Unlike pages, posts are usually organized by categories rather than appearing directly in the main navigation menu. To display your pages at the top of the site, you can create a menu in the WordPress settings or use an Elementor 'Nav Menu' widget in your header template.
