Example Calculation (GHz Version)

f = 3.5 GHz, d = 1 km

FSPL(dB) = 20 log₁₀(1) + 20 log₁₀(3.5) + 92.45
         = 0 + 10.88 + 92.45
         = 103.33 dB
  

The constant 92.45 is used when:

  • Distance is in kilometers (km)
  • Frequency is in gigahertz (GHz)

It comes from converting the standard FSPL equation into GHz units.

32.44 + 20 log₁₀(1000)
= 32.44 + 60
= 92.44 ≈ 92.45
    

Since:

  • 1 GHz = 1000 MHz
  • 20 log₁₀(1000) = 60 dB

the constant increases from 32.44 to 92.45.
